The Addams Family – an overview
Christina Ricci, an American actress, and producer, is famous for playing eccentric characters with a dark age. She got very prominent in the American Horror Comedy TV and film series “The Addams Family.“ This series was started in 1991, wherein she performed a getaway role as Wednesday Adams. The Addams Family is a group of fictional characters – Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Wednesday, Pugsley, and Grandmama. The Addams are a humorous inversion of this family.
Morticia – a lead character in the series
The name “Morticia” was originated in newspaper cartoons of Charles Addams, and first-time appeared in The New Yorker magazine in the 1930s. But none other characters were named in the comic. The characters that were later adapted to the television series started in 1964.Morticia’s maiden name is “Frump” and has an older sister named Ophelia, whose role in the TV series is played by Carolyn Jones.
The character “Morticia” described
The character name “Morticia” was inspired by “mortician” and selected for the television series. Morticia is the Addams Family’s matriarch, an elderly powerful woman heading the family. She is portrayed as a thin-statured lady with pale skin and flowing black hair, dressed in a skin-tight black shamble gown (matching her hair) showing octopus-like arms at the hem. She is described as a witch or vampire with this body description and outfit.
Morticia’s familial relationships
Morticia Addams is a fictional character, wife of Gomez Addams. Both Morticia and Gomez deeply adored one another. Morticia has three children – Wednesday, Pugsley, and Pubert Addams. Morticia has a mother, Hester Frump, the role of which has been played by Margaret Hamilton. Morticia has an uncle Fester, her mother’s brother. Morticia also has mother-in-law Grandmama Addams, Gomez’s mother.
Addams Family films released in the 1990s that reflect some changes in the Morticia’s familial relationships; Grandmama is Morticia’s mother, and mother-in-law of Gomez in this film; Fester is Gomez’s brother, not Morticia’s uncle.
Morticia has unusual traits
Morticia is keeping African Strangler, a fictitious breed of carnivorous plant, as a personal pet to which she named Cleopatra. She feeds hamburgers and meat meals to this plant. She applies baking powder, instead of cosmetics, to make up her face. Music motivated Morticia to play a Japanese shamisen usually freely. She continuously attracts her husband Gomez in each episode by speaking French or any other foreign language without reason. She does many other unfamiliar things, such as making sweaters with three arms, cutting out paper dolls with three heads, putting a hand in the mailbox to collect mails, and preparing rare blends for her husband. She loves smoking, but strangely without cigarettes or cigars, and smoke springs from underneath her.

Christina Ricci, like Morticia, seems something is matching to her real life. She does some uncommon things in her life. She has tattooed a lion on her right shoulder blade; she has eight tattoos on her body; a sparrow on right breast; the name “Jack” on right thigh; a pair of praying hands on her left hip; a mermaid on the left ankle. The words “Move or Bleed” are embossed on the left of her rib cage. She is suitable for the unusual Morticia character.
