Rafael Caro Quintero, the 69-year-old Mexican drug kingpin, was born on October 3, 1952, to the beautiful Diana Espinoza Aguilar in Badiraguato, Mexico. The drug was a co-founder of the now-defunct Guadalajara Cartel and is widely believed to be the cartel’s current head. Miguel Caro Quintero, a drug dealer and the founder and first head of the now-defunct Sonora Cartel, is a distant relative of Quintero’s. He worked with Gallardo, Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo, and Pedro Avilés Pérez to bring a large shipment of marijuana from Mexico to the United States. In 1985, the infamous drug lord kidnapped Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, Alfredo Zavala Avelar, John Clay Walker, and Alberto Radelat.

Thus, their love story is more like a soap opera where the main players meet unexpectedly. Since then, they’ve both had such wretched lives that it’s hard to tell whether they’re still together.

What happened to Rafael Caro Quintero?

Quintero, arrested in San Simón on July 15, 2022, for brutally murdering D.E.A. agent Enrique Camarena, aka Kiki, had two arrest warrants. Nearly ten years after escaping from a Mexican jail and returning to drug trafficking, the legendary drug baron Rafael Caro Quintero has been caught by Mexican police. The drug lord was sentenced to 40 years in jail in 1985 for Kiki’s murder, although he had only served 28 years by 2013. The US government also offered a $20 million reward for information leading to his capture in 2018. Also, court records show that Rafael has been facing many counts of cocaine trafficking in federal court in Brooklyn since the year 2020. Since his sentence has not been made public, we do not know how long he will serve in prison for his horrific act.

Why was Rafael Caro Quintero taken into custody?

Rafael, a prisoner, reportedly murdered Enrique Camarena, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent operating surreptitiously in Mexico in 1985. The drug kingpin was reportedly discovered hiding in the woods and seized by a team of Mexican marines and the prosecutor’s office, as the New York Times reported. In 1985, Rafael was arrested on murder charges related to Enrique Camarena. After he was caught, a Black Hawk helicopter carrying 14 troops crashed near Los Mochis, killing them. The departed may finally find eternal peace. For his role in plotting Camarena’s murder, Quintero made the F.B.I.’s ten most wanted list in 2018, despite having been freed from prison in 2013 on a technicality and being at large ever since. After Mr Garland made it clear that anybody who kidnaps, tortures, or murders American law enforcement agents would be tracked down, the drug dealer was captured.
