Here’s How I Release Stress as a Full-Time Dad

Being a dad is hard work! You not only need to provide for your family, but make sure that everyone has what they need and want. It’s like I’m working two jobs at once: one at the office and the other at home. It’s not always easy juggling everything—some days, I’m so busy that I hardly have time to eat or sleep!

Over time, though, I’ve learned that there are plenty of ways to relieve stress and be more productive at work, home, and everywhere else in life. Here are some tips!

Needed at the Office, Home, and Even the Field

On top of work and my other obligations, I also coach my son’s baseball team. I love doing it—being a coach is a ton of fun, and I get to spend a time with my boy—but it is a lot of work. I prefer to show up 15 minutes early and leave 15 minutes later than everyone else because I want to make sure that my players get the most out of their time. Every week, there’s a practice and game, and between them both, it can become quite stressful!

Getting Let Go and Bouncing Back with a Better Job

About a month ago, I found out that I was being let go from my job as a manager at a big company. It was a shocking development, but I knew that I had to move on as quickly as possible. Immediately, I began searching for a new job, which added an extra layer of stress to my life. It was hard not to feel completely overwhelmed, like I would never be able to make enough money to keep my family afloat.

Luckily, I stumbled upon an opportunity that was right up my alley and was able to start working within a few weeks. The job has proven to be a great fit—I absolutely love working as an IT consultant! I am a lot more relaxed knowing that I have a secure job and can’t help feeling like things are back on track in my life.

Unwinding With Video Games with My Kids

A lot of parents just take their children to the park, sit on a bench, and let the kids play by themselves. But these parents miss out on the stress relief that can come by playing with their kids. Video games, for example, are an excellent way to kick back!

When I was young, I played video games just like my children do now. I find it to be an easy way to connect with them, and also unwind. I do have to say that video games have progressed and become more realistic over time—back in my day, we had Galaga and Sea Wolf. Now, with games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, you’d think you were watching a documentary! It’s amazing to see just how much technology has evolved.

Battling Stresses from the Signs of Aging

My face has become a major source of self-consciousness, especially as I’ve gotten older. It seems that, every day, I have more lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

I wanted to feel better about myself, so I talked to a plastic surgeon to see what could be done. He suggested a male facelift, which can take upwards of 10 years off the face and last just as long!

So, I went through with it, and after a few weeks of recovery, I was completely back to my old self—I looked 10 years younger! It was totally worth it to be released from the burden of aging. I can’t wait to tackle every day with a fresh, inviting face!

Relieving Stress by Working Out

One thing I do to stay active is work out. It’s fun, energizing, and makes you look and feel like a million bucks! The main reason I exercise, though, is to sweat—it releases toxins and keeps your body functioning properly.

Technically, exercise is free, but I prefer to go to a gym because there is plenty of equipment to help me reach my goals. So, on days when I’m feeling particularly overwhelmed, I go there and let loose for a while. It works wonders!
